It is true.  I put my name forward for the position of Director on the BC School Trustees’ Association (BCSTA) Board of Directors for 2013-14.  The AGM is in Kelowna this year from April 25-28th and the election is held on April 27th.  My experience so far working with SD46 Board of Education as a school trustee has been phenomenal to say the least.  I taught secondary math/science for 15 years on the Sunshine Coast.  Getting students to “like” or “love” mathematics was absolutely amazing.  I left the practice almost 3 years ago to pursue my academic studies, explore other educational opportunities, and be a mom.  No regrets.  I love learning.  In 2011, I was elected as school trustee.  I study educational leadership and now I am an educational leader.  My purpose is to advocate for quality public education.  I did that as a teacher; I want that as a mom; and, I strive for that as a school trustee.  At present, I am the SD46 Education Standing Committee Chair, member of the BCSTA Education Committee, and member of the Standing Committee on Provincial Curriculum.  My desire, passion, and expertise in education make me an asset on the SD46 Board of Education, but also the BCSTA.  The next step is the BCSTA Board of Directors.  Looking forward.
